My play, The ICEmen Cometh, is one of 20 solo shows selected for the 10th Annual SF Playground Solo Festival, which will be held at the Potrero Stage in San Francisco in January and February. 2027. I’m super pleased to be featured alongside so many exciting and interesting shows from around the country in this milestone year.

The festival's maximum show length is 50 minutes, so this will be a slightly shorter version of my Marsh Rising Premiere, which I expect will run for an hour.

Where the show is headed

The full-length version premieres as part of the Marsh's Marsh Rising Program on January 19th at 7:30 pm in Downtown Berkeley. Marsh Rising presents developing work and serves as a formal audition for a theater run. This is a key next step for the show, so we need a full house. As you may know, I aim to sell out all my shows. Just 'sayin. Here's the ticket link: https://themarsh.ludus.com/select.php

Behind the scenes

I’ve been writing this show in David Ford’s Saturday Class in Berkeley for almost a year. I have found that this is the best way for me to develop work. I show up every week with new or revised portions and get feedback from David and classmates. I am also inspired by watching other people’s development process. Rebecca Fisher is directing my show, and we consult with David Ford on an ongoing basis. I suppose his role is dramaturg; it seems like such a fancy word to me. Now that I have a solid first draft, I’ll keep fine-tuning it as I start learning the script. And since my show addresses current events, it will always change, often from show to show.

This is an exciting stage of the process: the story is on the page, and now it comes alive in rehearsal.

SAVE the Date: Come see it — in person or online

I'll have three performances at the Potrero Stage in San Francisco, and it will also be live-streamed, so you can join me wherever you are:

  • Thursday, January 28, 2027 at 7:00 p.m.

  • Monday, February 1, 2027 at 8:30 p.m.

  • Sunday, February 7, 2027 at 4:00 p.m.

There's no fee to attend in person or to watch online. Donations are gratefully appreciated and help keep the theater going. You will need to get tickets, and I'll share a link later. Click here for a complete listing of all the performers.

I'd love to see you there. Thank you for your support as this show finds its way to the stage!
